Elizabeth Edwards, True Grace Under Pressure

From the moment John Edwards accepted John Kerry's offer to be his running mate, Elizabeth Edwards reached out to Kerry supporters across this nation with a true sense of grace and understanding. Kerry Bloggers grew accustomed to her posts on the the Kerry Blog and looked forward to her joining in the conversation there.

Elizabeth Edwards showed ture grace under pressure in the final days of the campaign as she found out that she may have breast cancer, but put off seeking the opinion of a specialist until Wednesday.

The Edwards family went straight to Massachusetts General Hospital from Boston's Faneuil Hall after Kerry and Edwards conceded on Wednesday.

As the news of the diagnosis reverberated accross the internet today, many Kerry supporters have expressed their concern and well wishes for Elizabeth Edwards.

Edwards, who leaves his North Carolina Senate seat in January, said in a statement, "Elizabeth is as strong a person as I've ever known. Together, our family will beat this."

God speed Elizabeth, you are in our prayers.

We're all hurting, but those of us who were committed to this campaign are better people for what we have done.

So many people are apathetic and then they complain if they don't like things. To create real change people must get involved.

Many of us will stay involved and we will rise up stronger and smarter and we will change the world.

This blog will be here for those who want to stay involved.

My prayers for Elizabeth Edwards and the rest of the family. I hope this somehow gets to be read by Elizabeth or anyone from the Edwards family. I feel that Elizabeth is so brave and I admire her strength. If she was worried, she certainly didn't show it for the sake of the campaign. Get well, Elizabeth we're all thinking of you.

That sure was shocking to hear about Elizabeth Edwards. You think you're having a day worse than any other, and something comes up to make it even worse.

Floridadem, I bet it helped having Kerry supporterss at your office. My office ultimately became 100% Kerry with every one of my employees ultimately deciding to vote for him. One employee was wavering, but definatley decided to go for Kerry when her husband got laid off in late October. I also had one employee have her son shipped off to Iraq jusgt a couple of weeks ago, and another already has one there. (That's two out of two of the employees I have with sons old enough). John Edwards had a really near us on Friday so we rearranged office hours so most of the office could go.

It's not even limited to my office. I got home today and saw a note from our dog walker. Something with the words Bush, Cheney, and screwed. During the campaign, seeing all our Kerry stuff around, she left a note saying she was with us and wanted to help. We left her a package of Kerry gear and the phone number for the Democratic Party office to volunteer. Of course I feel better knowing that, when I'm at the office, my dog is being walked by someone with proper values.
