Bush Has Lead, But It's Not Over

Current projections have Bush at 249 electoral votes and Kerry at 242.

Bush has the lead in Ohio, with some votes still to be counted. If he wins Ohio he would exceed the necessary 270 electoral votes. We may have seen a repeat of 2000 with Fox trying to help out Bush by prematurely calling Ohio for Bush, except this time only NBC followed. Several other news organizations state Ohio is still too close to call. Iowa has suspended completion of their count until tomorrow, and counts in a few other states have not been completed. Reportedly Bush is also leading in Nevada but there are a large number of provisional ballots there as well.

The provisional ballots in Ohio remain a question. Most of them are in Democratic areas and most of the challenges came from Republicans, suggesting that a very high percentage of these are for Kerry. Unfortunately Ohio law does not call for them to be counted for another eleven days. There are also conflicting reports as to the number of provisional ballots. I would also anticipate that, with the vote so close, that there would be a recount.

There also remains the question of other election problems so there might be other legal issues to be resolved.

I am a voter who voted for Senator Kerry. However, I do not believe that our country can endure another "Election Month". I also believe that every vote must be counted. I urge Senator Kerry to examine and consider the results from Ohio this morning. If it is not mathematically possible to win Ohio (many news organizations other than Fox and NBC have expressed the opinion that this is the case), please consider the good of the country and concede the election. Set an example for President Bush to live up to, and then we will make sure that he does. God bless you and God bless the USA.

If there is no way to win mathematically, then of course there is no point. However there is the possibility that the provisional ballots could bring it close, and we learned in Florida that a recount can result in a meaningful change in the vote.

There are also reports of Republican challenges tying things up so long that people left without voting, and other irregularities. In light of such problems, it would make no sense to give up if there is a real chance of winning.

At the moment we don't even know if Kerry will lose once all the votes are counted as there is disagreement among the news agencies.

We might not know who the winner is for certain, but we do know who one loser is--Zogby. A lot of people thought followed him over the other polls due to being closest in the last election. While I wish he was right tonight, I'm not at all surprised that he didn't turn out to be the most accurate this year.

Wow. What a surprise. Bush won the national vote by more than three and a half million votes. I truly thought Kerry could win by this amount. I thought that if Bush ended up winning nationally it would at best be a half a percent or some 700,000 votes. What the heck happened. I heard something about the young voter turnout being poor. Ohio looks terrible. Its at some 130,000 votes. I was watching Wisconsin and Kerry leading by 20,000 I thought well it is possible he could lose but knew he wouldnt and that is only 20,000. I AM AT A LOSS FOR WORDS!

What a horribly sad day. I was hanging on to hope but now it's another four years of capitalist dictatorship.

Or is it just like the old monarchy? The gluttonous rich and the hungry poor (and the middle class getting poorer and hungrier)

Maybe the election WAS rigged, through the electoral college. Or did the GOP really have a hold on people through FEAR (look out! the terrorists!) BIGOTRY (the evangelicals who need to practice what they preach, even the Bible talks about how it is easier for a camel to enter an eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven, and also their critical finger pointing, which also has a verse that I can't remember to quote, telling them that before they critisize others they need to critisize themselves first ie. before you see a splinter in someone else's eye, get the board out of your own) or GREED (MY money MY pile of money MY big pile of money all MINE all MINE all MINE no one's going to touch MY precious pile of money it's all MINE and no one else's ever in fact I'll just steal someone else's money and make it all MINE) And in my experience a lot of the evangelicals are VERY GREEDY, giving Christianity a bad name.

Think about what a convienient setup Bush and the GOP have to bait people. Tax cuts for the rich and rich corporations, who would in turn donate money to Bush out of their own greed, so Bush and the GOP are wealthy and they can do anything (especially favors for the rich who gave them the money) After all, you can do anything with money, money talks right?

Oh and we may as well throw in the churches too, HEY! The churches are very rich! Why not give them government funding so THEY can help the poor? (greedy people don't help the poor, they just pocket the money for their own cush lifestyles) Of course they give Bush PLENTY in return because he's "a born again christian" and being good and moral and doing all things right (sorry, I'm not judging but I AM very disillusioned)

Oh and don't forget the Big Oil Corporations and HEY! Possibly the Saudi Royal Family??? Who knows??? After all we do still have two Texas oil tycoons running the country!

And I bet Bin Laden is feeling REALLY safe right about now!

What a convienient setup! Tax cuts from the greedy TO the greedy which in turn entices the greedy and rakes back in the money for them.

Yeah, we're definitely divided all right, thanks to the GOP. PIGS! (I should not insult pigs) Why do they vote down raising the minimum wage WHY??? They did this to us. THEY divided the country!

I hope Senator Kerry does NOT give up and runs for president again in four years.
