Plurality Supports Censure

While some Democrats might complain that Feingold blindsided them by raising the censure question without consulting them, censure is accepted by a plurality of voters. American Research Group asked, “Do you favor or oppose the United States Senate passing a resolution censuring President George W. Bush for authorizing wiretaps of Americans within the United States without obtaining court orders?” 46% supported censure, compared to 44% opposing.

Support for impeachment is lower, with 42% supporting and 49% in opposition. Presumably this will change after further investigations reveal the extent of Bush’s dishonesty, corruption, and violations of the law.
