Stop Living Off My Tax Money, You Red State Parasites
The Washingon Monthly makes the following points:
The red staters complain endlessly about high taxes, but they sure don't seem to mind sticking other people with high tax bills.
The red staters are the ones on a crusade to shrink the evil federal government, but they seem plenty happy with that government as long as they're getting more than their fair share of it.
Red state politicians are sworn foes of the welfare state, but they sure seem eager enough to hoover up other people's hard earned tax dollars.
Red staters rant continually about how us socialists in the blue states are driving business away because of our high taxes. Well, maybe we could cut some of those taxes if the red states gave us back some of our money, eh? And in the meantime, even with our profligate business taxes we seem to have enough business left to subsidize their economies, don't we?
Income redistribution? Why, that's communism! Unless we're redistributing from blue to red, that is.

You are quick Ron!
I posted in the thread below for you to post a link for this. This map is very enlightening.
After I commented on this I thought I should show it on the blog.
As links aren't always obvious, note that the post has links to the Washington Monthly with more of their comments. Clicking directly on the map gives a pdf file with more details.
so, what you are basically saying is that the people from the red states are writing the tax laws for the blue states?
Interesting conspiracy theory. Maybe you shouldn't vote for someone who wants to raise taxes, if you are so worried about paying them.
Its no conspiracy theory. Just a demonstration as to where the taxes really come from and go to.
Hi ya Ron,
Always loved your posts on the blog. This is awesome--I love the title and I love the analogy--just wish we had our own TV station so we could show the rest of the US--have you shared with media outlets?? this is too good not to share--maybe Keith Olberman will pick it up--or Brian Williams or maybe even 60 minutes?? This is great and it adds to my indignation--we need to stop the hemmorgaing of our $$ and use this to oust our local reps that let it happen.
I've seen this around various places on the web, so it is possible some journalists might pick it up. We know they often pick up ideas from the blogs.
Red State Welfare. They don't want to raise their own state taxes, Alabama just voted down legislation because it would have made education a right and might have raised taxes. They just don't seem to understand that the roads, forestry, port dredging, disaster relief, education, food stamps, energy assistance, medicare, SSI & SSD, etc., etc., has to come from somewhere. They won't even raise their minimum wage so that business has to pay its own labor costs instead of having it subsidized through Medicaid and food stamps by the tax payer. Very frustrating, I bet my kid's college tuition is higher because we don't have as much of our own tax dollars to spend too.
