Bush Brain Dead on Foreign Policy

Today George Bush accused John Kerry of having election amnesia, falsely claiming he has changed his views on Iraq. In reality, it is George Bush who shows signs of amnesia as he forgot his statements at the time of the Iraq War Resolution that "Approving this resolution does not mean that military action is imminent or unavoidable." It means that "America speaks with one voice."

Not only has John Kerry been consistent on Iraq, he showed an understanding from the beginning of the dangers we faced.

John Kerry warned from the beginning that we must act with our allies. Under George Bush our army quickly went through Iraq, appearing to be victorious, but lacked the resources to leave peace keepers behind. If we had acted with allies, these areas might have been secured rather than turning into insurgent strong holds.

John Kerry warned about the dangers of an American occupation of an Arab country. George Bush fails to understand that this is also a battle for hearts and minds. If we ignore that battle, any terrorists arrested or killed will be quickly replaced. George Bush played into Bin Laden's hands by acting rashly in Iraq, greatly incrasing al Qaeda's recruitment. The Center for Strategic Studies estimates that the number of al Qaeda operatives has tripled from 6000 to 18,000 in response to George Bush's actions.

John Kerry warned that we should only go to war if necessary to protect us against WMD, and only as a last resort. John Kerry voted for the IWR to give George Bush the leverage to get the weapons inspectors back into Iraq, but George Bush failed to allow them to continue their job. We know now that we were not threatened by WMD and this war was not necessary. Bush's claims of a connection between Saddam and al Qaeda have also been disputed. The war only acted to impair our efforts in the real war on terrorism.

John Kerry warned about the dangers of George Bush's policies from the start. If only George Bush had listened to John Kerry. We have seen that George Bush does not recognize his mistakes, and is incapable of learning from history. Four more years of George Bush may mean repeating the same mistakes once again.

It appears that not only have you not read the posts, but you have not read Kerry's statements on Iraq either.
