Cheney and Bush Not on Same Page on Iraq

Dick Cheney, in his comments distorting John Kerry's position on Iraq, is clearly unaware of what George Bush has said on the same subject.

From the New York Times:

On Wednesday, Vice President Cheney did his best to worsen Mr. Kerry's troubles. He issued a statement noting that Mr. Kerry "voted for the war" but turned against it "when it was politically expedient" and now has his aides "saying that his vote to authorize force wasn't really a vote to go to war."

Excuse me, Mr. Cheney, but it appears that Kerry is just saying the same thing as George Bush:

Such a resolution, Bush said, should not suggest that military action is "imminent or unavoidable," only that the United States was speaking with "one voice." October 8, 2002

Hello Ron...Robert G. Oler here. As always I am more or less keeping this off the Kerry blog. I notice that I am not the only one who thinks its gone rah rah...

Anyway you posted the following and I'll add my comments as if Shrub were making them. They are well ten word answers (apologies to TWW).

**If you could do it over again, would you go to war without a plan to win the peace?** We have worked with our strongest Allies, the UN and freedom loving Iraqis against people who oppose freedom. What would JK do differently?

**Did you understand the consequences of invading an Arab country?** It is a racist argument to say that Arabs do not want freedom. John Kerry voted for the IWR which made it clear that I had the authority to use force. I used that force to free the Iraqi people from a bruttle dicatator. My question to JK is would he have taken down Saddam.

** you understand the difference between voting to authrize the use of force as a last resort if we are endangered and voting to go to war?** Well folks this one is a little longer because its harder. Let me read from the IWR "The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq;"

I determined that the inspections were not going anywhere adn Sadamm was being difficult. If Senator Kerry were President Sadamm would still be in power and Senator Kerry would still be trying to make up his mind.

** you think the war would have gone better if you did as your father did and built a coalition of other countries, including countries in the area, before considering going to war?** I will never put the defense of the United States in the hands of other countries. Senator Kerry agreed that there was a danger in Iraq. I met it.

**Knowing that there were no WMD, wouldn't it have made more sense to allow the inspections to complete thier job rather than rushing to war?** I didnt know that there were no WMD's and after 9/11 I am not going to wait for a group of inspectors to tell me how to protect America.

Ron. Your a great guy. I hope your right that we blow past this. I called this turn about three weeks ago. Want a bet what the speeches at the RNConvention say?

I can almost hear McCain's lips moving.

Anyway I see one post from me here has vanished. I'll probably save this one.

We might go past this...but the campaign stepped in a sinkhole. Worse I am not the only one to think that...take Joe Biden.

Robert,

FYI, I am the only person who can make any posts go away here and I have not! Your post must be here! :)

Pam.

There was a third alternative I did not consider in my post Morrison rally high...that I did something wrong.

I am sorry for what I said, please accept my apology. I am just a little sensitive. The Kerry blog is one of the more "moderated" blogs in the country in terms of post either departing or not making it.

Well, there's always their forum.

Oh, never mind.
