Class Exposing ID at University of Kansas Cancelled

The class at the University of Kansas we previously reported on to debunk intelligent design has ben cancelled. The Washington Post reports that it was “canceled after the professor caused a furor by sending an e-mail mocking Christian fundamentalists.” They report:

Mirecki recently posted an e-mail on a student organization forum in which he referred to religious conservatives as “fundies” and said a course depicting intelligent design as mythology would be a “nice slap in their big fat face.” He later apologized, and did so again in a statement issued by the university.

The course sounded like a good idea, teaching that intelligent design is mythology and not science. Unfortunately commenting on the topic in this manner was not very wise showing how such indiscrete comments could sabotage a worthy effort. This is something all liberals should keep in mind before allowing sites such as Daily Kos to appear to represent their views. If you want to effect change, how you present your views does matter.
