Best news I have heard in while!
As much as everyone liked to hate on Ashcroft, the truth of the matter is the guy took his marching orders from The Evil Dark Lords (Rove and Cheney) just like everyone else in this administration. ShrubCo is clearly doing this to give the false impression that they are going to rule as moderates this time around. As much as they have been crowing about having a mandate and a boatload of capital, they know in reality they don't. So this superficial move is just a way to quiet their critics and appear as though they are reaching out. They'll do a few more cosmetic moves like this, but once they are done shuffling staff or softening on some overly rigid policy they've enacted in the past few years, anyone who says anything bad about them will look like they are unreasonable whiners to the media and to their supporters. These frauds needs to be exposed for who they really are and moves like this allow them to keep the press in a fog. I fear either this lawless crew will never really get the mighty backhand of payback they deserve or that when they do get it we'll be made to suffer right along with them.
