Happiness is Crushed Buckeye Nuts
It is about time for the kickoff in the annual battle between the Blue (very BLUE) state of Michigan and the Red (or Scarlet & Grey) state of Ohio. While Michigan, which has a Democratic governor, two Democratic Senators, and a slate of Kerry electors, showed gains for Democrats this year, we know the story in Ohio.
Despite growing up with chants of "Fuck the Bucks," this year I'm prepared to make a bargain in a Kubler Ross state of mind. I'd trade a victory in this game, as important as it is, in return for Ohio's electors. For the first time I must admit that the future of the world does not depend upon this football game, as might be the case with the election.
One way or another, Go Blue!
Update
Better idea: If we win, can we also take their electoral votes?

Bad things sure seem to happen in the state of Ohio this month. Oh How I Hate Ohio State.
At least Michigan still tied for the Big Ten Titlle, and will be going back to the Rose Bowl (due to having beaten co-champion Iowa).
As sad as us Michigan fans are, I guess that Wisconsin and Michigan State fans must be even sadder. Going into last week's game, Wisconsin was undefeated and looked like they'd be going to the Rose Bowl, or possibly even playing for the national championship. They lost their final two, and most likely will wind up in the Citrus Bowl. At least they get to visit Disney World.
Michigan State, after losing a 17 point lead to Michigan a few weeks ago, demolished Wisconsin last week. Then they lost to Penn State and wound up not being bowl eligible. (Even before then they were being considered for the Motor City Bowl in Detroit. They probably gave up, not thinking it was worth the drive from East Lansing.)
