Dems Collect $2 Million from Illinoisans

Democratic presidential candidates have collected about two million dollars from individual Illinois donors for the 2004 campaign.

That's according to a Federal Election Commission analysis of contributions through last month.

With slightly more than $600,000, North Carolina Senator John Edwards leads the pack. Many of Illinois' best-known trial attorneys helped the former trial attorney.

Massachusetts Senator John Kerry follows with just over $523,000.

Missouri Congressman Dick Gephardt had about $350,000.

And Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut received about $255,000.

Illinois donors gave about $117,000 to former Vermont Governor Howard Dean.

And former Illinois Senator Carol Moseley Braun has gotten about $93,000.
