John Kerry Fighting for the Fighting Democrats
John Kerry knows a little bit about being a Fighting Dem. Today, John Kerry is asking for our support in helping to get Fighting Dems across the country elected in the 2006 Congressional races. For years, John Kerry's own Band of Brothers has stood at his side, not only in the 2004 presidential race, but also in previous Senate races. The attacks on Kerry by Republican's in the '04 election, ushered in a new terminolgy we all know as Swift-Boating. It's critical that we join in the fight and help these Iraq veteran's stand up to the Rove-style attacks that will be launched against these veterans who are willing to speak the truth to power.
Since the end of 2004, Kerry's Keeping America's Promise PAC has given "$4.5 million to Democratic candidates" across the country. To kick off his push to help Fighting Dems in the critical '06 Congressional races, John Kerry sent out an email this morning asking members of his email list to donate to the Fighting Dems. A copy of the email is available here.
John Kerry also posted a diary on the Daily Kos this morning about the Fighting Dems. The Daily Kos has done a lot to promote the "Fighting Dems" in recent months... Here's a quip from Kerry's diary on the Daily Kos:
Over the past few months we've highlighted a few of the Fighting Dems here, as well and The Democratic Daily will continue to work with Kerry's Keeping America's Promise PAC to help these Fighting Dems. I hope our readers will do the same!

"I think electing Iraq war veterans in 2006 is the single most important thing we can do to change that. Here's why. Stars and Stripes reported that "Seventy-two percent of troops on the ground in Iraq think U.S. military forces should get out of the country within a year." Imagine that. No matter what you think the right course is in Iraq, what does it tell you that many American troops see that a long term, massive military presence in Iraq with no end in sight isn't the answer? In that article - which I hope everyone will read - the man who organized the survey makes an important point: "there are those in the U.S. who will speak for the troops, so there is a real value in seeing what they are actually saying." That's what counts here. To hear the Administration and their Republican allies talk, anyone who has a different view than George Bush is lacking in patriotism and doesn't support the troops."
