Firing Prosecutors

Are we going to face another Saturday Night Massacre (named for when Richard Nixon fired Watergate special Prosecutor Archibald Cox)? The Los Angeles Times describes how “A U.S. grand jury in Guam opened an investigation of controversial lobbyist Jack Abramoff more than two years ago, but President Bush removed the supervising federal prosecutor and the inquiry ended soon after.” This has raised speculation that Bush might use similar tactics to attempt to shut down the Plame investigation now that it appears to be concentrating on top aides to both George Bush and Dick Cheney.
