I ran across a commentary supporting the “Kids First Act” in The Gamecock, from a third year English student at the University of South Carolina . It’s a well written piece that posing some good questions to those who may be hesitant to get behind this important legislation. With Bush’s intention to further cut Medicaid benefits, the time to act on this important legislation is now.

You have no idea how many times I hear words escape people's mouths in a way that amounts to, "It's not my problem, so why should I care?" I am sick of hearing this. We have not only an ethical, but a moral obligation to make sure that the basic needs of our fellow human beings are met, and access to good health care is unquestionably one of these needs.
