NEWS from the Young Democrats Convention

Kerry supporters surprise Dean campaign and Dean himself with strong showing

I was at the Young Democrats Convention this weekend and the New York Kerry Team ROCKED! The Buffalo newspaper ignored several key facts in their little article about the convention and Dean's showing.

First off, the entire convention center was dominated by Dean and Kerry; it was a constant battle. Half of the convention hall, probably more was covered with Kerry signs and people holding Kerry signs and wearing stickers. When Dean arrived, he could not of helped but see the insane amount of work done by the New York delegates to the Young Democrats supporting Kerry.

Then, about 300 people stormed into the convention that are NOT apart of Young Democrats of America. We were holding our elections and here comes 300 people who have never helped build this volunteer organization or helped it in any way. All those people that were in the pictures are either Dean staff or volunteers NOT Young Democrat delegates. That is important because the AP reporter made it seem that the Young Dems were endorsing Dean with that amount of support. They are not. They are split mainly between Kerry, Dean, Edwards and Kucinich.

The KERRY video ROCKED. Everyone was talking about the youth video and how awesome it was and I picked up 10 volunteers from Arizona who were undecided before that video who had decided to support Kerry!

The number one comment was about the outtakes, everyone loved seeing the "real" John Kerry.

Aloof? HAH!

Oh, and there is a widescreen shot of Kerry talking to students with a BEER on his chair, they LOVED IT! After all young dems do have a reputation...

Overall, the New York delegation rocked and really made the difference and the Young Democrat delegates to that convention knew who the two front runners and who had to bring in outside support to make a good showing that day.

In fact, after the Kerry video, the Kerry team then gathered about 40 people and walked the streets of Buffalo and helped CLEAN UP THE STREETS, literally. It was a great community service project and it really showed who is committed to the security of this country!

YDA has been fighting in the trenches for over 70 years now, before the internet and before Howard Dean and they know the real deal when they see John Kerry!
