Last Week's Washington Post Profile
The Washington Post profiled John Kerry on June 1, 2003.
"We have to get back to dreaming again," he told Democratic activists in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Echoing Robert F. Kennedy, he often closes with the line, "I'm running for president of the United States because I really believe it is time for this country to ask again, 'Why not?' "
John Kerry is dreamer and realist. Two archetypes that I can identify with. With so much wrong in our country today, we need a leader that can see the future, desire change and be realistic in affecting change. I hear a lot of Dean supporters using the term Bush-Lite in reference to the "other" democratic candidates. Bush-Lite? My opinion on being Bush-Lite is a Democrat who's a Governor and has no military experience. That's Bush-Lite. There is nothing Lite about John Kerry. "He doesn't need a consultant to tell him how to dress like an alpha male," said his friend Ivan Schlager. "He is a damn alpha male."
